Baba Bulleh Shah was a Sufi poet who lived near Lahore at the turn of the 17th Century. His poetry and his belief is that Truth is to be found in all Faiths. He lived at a time of great strife between the Mughal rulers and Sikhs of Punjab and tried to persuade different communities to live together. He rejected differences due to religion, colour, gender or caste and was a supporter of Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh.
He taught that to find God we have to look within ourselves and live our lives as fulfilled human beings without getting lost in pointless rituals and prejudices.
His poetry was written in Gurmukhi Punjabi, in the form of kafis or quatrains and poems. In this book, the author, Dr. Wasim Ahmed, has translated 40 such quatrains and poems, to present them in Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi, together with transliteration of the original Punjabi, and new translations in English.
