UK Events for How Long Can The Moon Be Caged?

Suchitra Vijayan and Francesca Recchia, the authors of How Long Can the Moon be Caged: Voices of Indian Political Prisoners, are having three events to talk about the book and discuss the situation in India.

Suchitra says of the meetings: ‘As radical pedagogy is foundational in the work we do at The Polis Project, we are organising book events that would be both a celebration of How Long Can the Moon Be Caged? and an occasion to think together about the pressing issues of authoritarianism, criminalization of dissent and state violence in India and beyond.  Keeping the memory of political prisoners and their families will be the core of every discussion.  Their stories tell the human cost of resistance, the rapidly shrinking space for reason and dissent, and the need now more than ever to nurture networks of international solidarity.’

.

On Wednesday 20 September they will be at Housmans Bookshop, 5 Caledonian Road, London N1 9DX from 19.00 – 20.30;

On Thursday 21 September from 19.00-20.30, they are at The Frontline Club. There, they will focus on authoritarianism and dissent and engage in conversation with writer, journalist, and activist Amrit Wilson and Meenakshi Ravi, an Executive Producer with Al Jazeera English; and

On Friday 22 September at 19.00 , they will be at Mayday Rooms. Structured as an open conversation, this event will focus on the destruction of institutions and the erosion of rights.
